About the Service
Black Screen provides free, browser-based tools that fill your display with a solid color, run a screensaver, show ambient video and wallpaper backdrops, or simulate familiar screens for novelty purposes. The tools run in your browser and do not install software or change your device settings.
We offer the Site on an "as available" basis. We may add, change, or remove tools and features at any time, and we may occasionally take the Site offline for maintenance or for reasons beyond our control.
Acceptable Use
You agree that you will not:
- Use the Site for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or deceptive purpose
- Use our prank or novelty screens to scare, deceive, defraud, harass, or harm any person, or to make anyone believe their device is genuinely broken, infected, or compromised
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers, or any connected systems
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the Site or its infrastructure
- Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the Site in a way that harms its operation
- Copy, reproduce, or republish substantial parts of the Site's content as your own
- Remove, hide, or interfere with any advertising, notices, or branding on the Site
We reserve the right to restrict or block access to anyone who misuses the Site.
Prank and Novelty Screens
Some of our tools, such as the fake update screens, the blue screen of death, and Hacker Typer, are designed purely for entertainment and harmless fun. They simulate the appearance of certain screens but do nothing to your device, your data, or anyone else's.
You are solely responsible for how you use these tools. They are meant for light-hearted jokes among people who will quickly understand it is a prank. You must not use them to commit fraud, to extort or intimidate anyone, to impersonate a real company or support service, or in any way that could cause genuine distress, financial loss, or harm. Downloads and Backgrounds
Some pages let you download background images, such as solid color backgrounds from 480p up to 8K. Unless stated otherwise, these downloadable backgrounds are free to use for both personal and commercial projects. You may not, however, resell the backgrounds on their own as a standalone product, or claim them as your own original artwork for licensing.
Intellectual Property
The Site, including its design, layout, text, graphics, logos, and the arrangement of its tools, is owned by Black Screen or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. The "Black Screen" name and branding belong to us.
You may use the Site and its tools for their intended purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the Site's content, code, or branding without our written permission, except where these Terms expressly allow it (such as the downloadable backgrounds described above).
Third-Party Links and Advertising

We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that any tool will meet a specific need such as detecting every hardware defect. Limitation of Liability
